Anyone who wishes to be the leader, must first learn to be a servant. This was an advice given by Rev’d Canon Samuel Hansen- Addy in his sermon at the installation of six canons of the Cathedral Church of the Most Holy Trinity . He said the office of Canon in the Anglican Church   is equal to monsignior in the Roman Catholic Church and whoever is appointed a Canon must exhibit humility and respect in his lifestyle. Speaking on the theme “ Imitating the humility of Christ, Canon Hansen-Addy said the brothers elevated to the office of Canon , should remember , they  were with the rest  who are not canons some few moments ago , some even seniors to them in the priesthood and never look down on them, but give them the respect due and they will in turn respect them as their seniors. He observed that , Jesus was God, yet he did not use that proudly, to raise himself among his followers, but humbled himself  as a servant and served mankind . Using  what  St. Paul said about himself in scripture “ By the grace of God , I am what I am” he asked the canons to know that , it is by His grace that they have been elevated to the office of canon and humbly serve God and man to the best of their ability. He said they  must commit themselves to God and, the ministry of God and they will surely succeed in their new office.

The service was conducted by Very Rev.  Dr. Emmanuel I. K. Addo, the Dean of the Cathedral , with the Most Rev. Dr. Justice O. Akrofi, Arcbishop of the Church of the Province of West Africa & Bishop of Accra, Rev. Canon Prof. Emeritus John S. Pobee, Vicar General, Very Rev. Jehoshaphat A. Ocquaye, immediate Past Dean of the Cathedral, members of the Chapter and other priests in attendance.

The New Canons installed are Canon Kwaku Dua-Agyemang, Canon Bernard Tetteh Antwi, Canon Victor L. Acquaye, Canon Stephen Quaye Adjei, Canon Anthony M. Eiwuley  and Canon Samuel L. Lamptey.

Rev. Fr. Noah Attoh Mensah and Rev. Fr. Samuel O. Ankrah have also been elevated Canons but presently out of the country and will be installed when they return.
